Nichel's
Note to
Labor

"Do not grow weary; our resilience, coupled with our shared values, is the pathway to the strength we need to combat oppressive systems. We are undeniably in the fight of our lives, but I urge you to remain resolute in the struggle for justice, liberation, and the defense of our democracy." - Nichel Dunlap

Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter. - Dr. King

Keep making noise!

Turning Pain Into Power

"As a Charlotte Native, I have witnessed firsthand the harm done to workers and marginalized communities when there is no accountability. It will take the power of the collective to stand against unjust systems that cause harm. HOL Tabernacle is here to help build that POWER!"

Southern Victories | Fort Valley, GA

On May 12, 2023, workers at the Blue Bird Bus Company in Fort Valley, Georgia, made history by voting 697 to 435 to unionize with the United Steelworkers (USW), marking a major win for labor in the South.

As part of the inaugural cohort of the Advancing Black Strategists Initiative through Jobs with Justice and the USW, Nichel Dunlap-Thompson became known as “the one who prayed,” bringing faith into the movement at a pivotal moment. Before the vote, she led a powerful prayer over the workers—an act that deeply resonated and reflected the longstanding connection between faith and labor organizing, especially in the South.

For generations, faith has been a source of strength for Black workers, sustaining communities through slavery, Jim Crow, and ongoing struggles for justice. This victory stands as a testament to the power of unity, strategy, and spirit—where organizing and faith came together to create lasting change.

Nichel's Message to the Labor Movement

Spiritual Synergy

"After shots were fired that dreadful day of April 4, 1968, Sanitation Workers were reminded of Dr. King's words, "We've got to give ourselves to this struggle until the end.  Nothing would be more tragic than to stop at this point in Memphis."

It has become my life's mission to revitalize(mobilize/motivate/encourage) all WORKERS who were stopped in Memphis on that tragic day.  With Dr. King's death, a huge piece of the labor movement vanished in the South.  I am here to resurrect it through the Word of GOD - which resonates louder than any word spoken by man.

As religious leadership is highly influential, their messages outweigh that of politicians any day.  Thus, candidates flock to the House of GOD to gain the Christian vote - especially during election seasons.

Forward Through Faith is exactly "The Future We Need" by reimplementing faith as a vehicle to promote and to support campaigns that have lost their fire for organizing in the south!" - Nichel Dunlap
